Tell us a little bit about Russo's Catering. What makes your organization unique in St. Louis?
Russo’s Catering is more than a business—it’s a St. Louis legacy that’s been delighting guests for over 60 years. Our story began in the 1950s, when Matt and Fran Russo opened a neighborhood hangout that featured ice cream, burgers, and Fran’s homemade candy. A decade later, they started a catering company that, over the years, has employed each of their children and is still family-owned and operated. Generations of the Russo family have poured their hearts into every recipe, turning a family dream into the celebrated catering company we are today.
What truly sets us apart is our deep-rooted passion for hospitality. As a family-run company, we believe in treating every guest like one of our own. Our commitment to service, creative menus, and flawless execution is woven into every event we touch. When you choose Russo’s, you’re not just getting a caterer—you’re gaining a seasoned team that cherishes your celebration as much as you do. Your trust in us is the number one thing that drives us each day.
What item(s) do you provide that every couple should have on their menu?
Our whipped buttercream wedding cakes are one item that garner such rave reviews; we even include the cake in our wedding package. All our bakery items are made in-house, and our sweets game is so robust that we also offer cupcakes, Italian wedding cookies, and seasonal mini desserts that make a fantastic display. Do NOT pass up the chocolate opera cake - oh my!
Some of our most singled-out menu items include our signature Chianti-braised beef toasted ravioli, sesame chicken skewers, and tomato-basil bruschetta on our appetizer menu, which certainly sets the tone for the party. All of our pastas are fan favorites, especially our BLT Rigatoni. Chicken Palermo, the Beef Bordelaise, and our smoked pork with housemade blackberry bbq sauce are popular entree selections.
What’s the most unique reception you’ve done in the last year and why?
One that stands out is an Indian wedding that lasted three days! Our culinary team has extensive experience with global cuisine, so the food was actually a ton of fun for us. We served Panjabi-inspired appetizers and family-style tandoori chicken and samosas, to name a few. Surrounded by the bright colors, all the interesting ceremonial rituals, and even the groom arriving on a white horse, it was spectacular!
But what really makes each wedding special isn’t just the décor or the theme; it’s the couples and families we’ve gotten to know along the way. Everyone brings their own style, ideas, and personality to the planning process, and that’s what makes every reception truly unique. It’s always fun to hear their vision and then see it come to life on the night of the reception.
Guilty food pleasure:
When we think guilty food pleasure, it’s that “man, that sounds good right now!” feeling - so we’ve crafted a stellar late-night cravables menu for the dance floor crowd. Whether that’s housemade Sicilian-style pizza, lobster mac ‘n cheese, a slider bar, or a sweet treat like milk and cookie shooters, we have so much fun helping couples create a vibe that gets a lot of praise from their guests.
When Russo's Catering pops in someone’s mind, what’s the first thing you want them to think of?
We hope the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Russo’s is trust. Trust our reputation for delicious food and exceptional service. We want people to feel we made everything seamless, easy, and that their event was memorable for everyone.
